Hi. I’m Scotty.

I’m a writer and master of public policy who can put large ideas into understandable packages.

I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2015 with a BA in Philosophy. While there, I helped reestablish the Iowa Chapter of Delta Upsilon, assisted in the planning and execution of the 2013 National Convention of the Green Party of the United States, and fenced for the Iowa team at several competitions.

I graduated from DePaul University with a Masters in Public Policy and a certificate in Metropolitan Development and Planning in the summer of 2022. My coursework focused on housing, poverty, and urban planning. My final project, which can be viewed in the blog section of this website, focused on cooperatives in Chicago and the benefits of membership.

I am currently getting a Masters in Social Philosophy at Loyola University Chicago. My coursework thus far has focused on Marx and Critical Theory.

When writing, I use my knack for making complex concepts accessible to my readers in hopes of introducing them to big ideas and recent discoveries they ought to know about. I try to provide an overview of the subject at hand and point towards the ways that the topic relates to other subjects and issues that they may be more familiar with.

When I’m not working, I spend time going for walks along Lake Michigan, practicing my guitar, reading about the wide variety of topics that interest me, learning Chinese and Esperanto, and fencing.
